Steve Joins NHS in Red Nose Day Fundrasier

Comic ReliefSteve Haywood joined up with the Wakefield District NHS to raise funds for Red Nose Day last week. The personal trainer from West Yorkshire donated a free personal training session as a prize for the fundraising events which took place on Friday 13th March 2009. So far, Comic Relief has raised a record £57 million, with more donations to be collected after the flurry of fundraising activities wind down. Steve hopes that the chance to get fit with a qualified personal trainer will tempt NHS workers to donate to the BBC charity:

It’s a great opportunity for anyone looking to improve their health, start working out or even for those hoping to compete in a race this summer. Comic Relief is a worthwhile cause which changes the lives of thousands of people the UK and abroad. I hope I can do my bit to help those people and at the same time, improve the general health of the people I work with.

The prize was offered as part of a “Red Nose Bingo” game which saw over 300 tickets sold for 50p – even the senior managers and Chief Executive got involved. The bingo raised £174.30. Angie Whiteley, who organised the prize donations, said that everyone who took part had a lot of fun. The day’s events will be featured in the weekly NHS bulletin “Newsbytes”.
