Strength Bands

Man using a DynabandStrength bands have been around for decades and are used in a form of training known as ERT or Elastic Resistance Training. The use of the bands in general has fluctuated in popularity although their use in rehabilitation has remained steady. Gyms do not push the usage of bands because put simply, the simple elastic band can be used for almost anything- and so you wouldn’t need a gym or the machines.

The bands are also known as Dyna bands, Thera- bands etc… but in all cases they are colour coded for levels of resistance, please check with the manufacturer. Therefore, you not only increase resistance by using a band that needs more strength, but also by shortening the band being used – how versatile is that?

There are lots of exercises that can be performed with bands, for all major muscle groups, but please enlist the help of a qualified professional to begin safely and effectively. So, you can do a complete workout and then fold up the band and stick it in your back pocket – brilliant.
